Trusted Name In Aircraft Financing Your comprehensive aircraft financing resource

International Registry

An International Registry went into effect on March 1, 2006, that requires title searches and registration through the International Registry as well as the FAA when financing certain aircraft, engines, and helicopters.

We realize the International Registry can be a lengthy and oftentimes frustrating process for all parties involved. Dorr Aviation, in partnership with our title company, will work with you on each step of the transaction. It is our experience that the entire process can take anywhere from 5 to 21 days, so the sooner the application is started, the better.

Airplanes and engines that qualify are:

  • Airframes that are type certificated to transport at least eight people, including crew, or goods in excess of 6,050 pounds (2,750 kilograms).
  • Helicopters that are type certificated to transport at least five people, including crew, or goods in excess of 990 pounds (450 kilograms).
  • Jet propulsion aircraft engines with at least 1,750 pounds of thrust or its equivalent.
  • Turbine-powered or piston-powered aircraft engines with at least 550 rated take-off horsepower or its equivalent.

Our title company will work on your behalf
Upon receipt of the completed title searches, Dorr Aviation will file a "proposed interest" with the International Registry. The registry will then require consent from all parties to the transaction. Our title company will act on your behalf through the entire process. Once we have filed all paperwork at the FAA, an international interest will then be filed.

For our title company to act on your behalf for all of the filings, the buyer and seller for each transaction will need to log onto the International Registry.

Click into the User Area and follow the steps to become an Approved Administrator User.  Register as a Transacting User Entity (TUE) and sign up under the name in which the aircraft will be registered.  This enrollment requires a credit card payment of $200.

The approval process can take several days. To complete your aircraft loan closing as quickly as possible, you'll need to apply immediately.

You must sign up using the computer from which you will approve and save the International Registry certificate. The certificate will be saved to that specific computer and any transactions on the registry can be done from only that computer.

Notify your loan coordinator
Once you become an approved user, notify your airplane loan coordinator and give them the email address that you used to sign up for the registry.

Dorr Aviation will then notify the title company and you will receive an email from the International Registry confirming that you are assigning our title company to become your Professional User Entity (PUE).

You will be required to log onto the system and  click in the area labeled "Registering an Interest", follow the prompt to "Authorize user to work on aircraft object."  This confirmation in the International Registry system is required for our title company to work on your behalf. The title company will then accurately complete the process from there and in a timely manner.

In addition to our closing fee, there will be a charge of $1,000 for all International Registry closings.

We also offer the option to use our title company to register you at an additional cost.  Please contact our office to discuss this service.
